We can hardly believe that the Gardening Project celebrated its 1st anniversary on Monday 8th March. The project which runs at The Fircroft Centre was started to provide a variety of different gardening and horticultural opportunities tailored to meet the needs of people with mental health problems, learning disabilities and others experiencing social exclusion.
Allison, who heads up the project, reflects on the past year saying, "It has been a fantastic success and has gone incredibly quickly. We have achieved all that we set out to and the garden is now a place for all to enjoy".
Not only does the project look after the gardens at The Fircroft Centre but they have also taken on several contracts including Hestia Housing. To celebrate the anniversary, Allison took service users for a walk in Richmond Park where they enjoyed not only the sunshine but also a well-earned celebration cake!
